The Rap Beat Creator is the brainchild of Mello Melanin, 1/3 of the Hiphop group Prophetix. From Atlanta, GA, Mello began making and submitting demos to record labels as early as 1988. After linking up with partner Eddie Meeks, he co-founded Asylum Entertainment in 1996.
Outstanding artist accomplishments include a performance at the World Famous Apollo Theatre in Harlem, NY, opening for the Grammy Award-winning Hiphop band, The Roots, touring with the legendary Blastmaster KRS-ONE, and sharing the stage with well know acts as DJ Drama (Gangsta Grillz), Talib Kweli, Slum Village, MF Doom, dead prez, etc.
Under Asylum, Mello has promoted many events including the Kings of Comedy Tour featuring comedians Steve Harvey, Bernie Mac, & Cedric The Entertainer, Oscar Award Winning Movies including Training Day featuring Denzel Washington, plays, album releases, etc.
His video for "Gotcha" was featured on BET (Black Entertainment Television) and various Rap video shows around the world. Some of Asylum's music has been featured in television and radio commercials (Atlanta Hawks, Skillz Athletic Wear, Hot 107.9 (formerly Hot 97.5) in Atlanta, GA), films, videos, video games, contests, etc., and of course music industry records.
Mello Melanin is Hiphop! He is a member of The Temple of Hiphop as well as Broadcast Music Inc. (BMI). As a personal accomplishment, he considers the day he met Hiphop pioneers DJ Kool Herc and Afrika Baambaata in person one of the best days of his life.
Mello also holds a Bachelors of Business Administration degree with an emphasis on Global Enterprise Management from American Intercontinental University.
